If I were you, I’d be confused AF, too… I hope this post helps.

“Humans are tool builders. Deep generalists. Unlike animals who thrive in a specific niche, like a lion in the Savannah, humans create jackets for the cold and fans for the heat.” ~Dan Koe

And why wouldn’t you be confused?

This newsletter has bounced between several topics, including meditation, Zen Challenges, publishing brief books, business building, etc.

Some of you have been with me for a long time, and I truly appreciate your continued readership... I also apologize for the phrenetic nature of my online letter.

So, who is Baz? Really and truly?

A deep generalist with three areas of focus (AoF)

That’s what Dan Koe’s quote above states, and I think it describes me perfectly. It’s what another writer I admire, Evan Kelly, calls Nicheless.

Being nicheless means it’s difficult to focus on one area of interest.

It’s like asking your dentist to ignore your gum disease and only focus on your upper teeth. 🦷

Any ethical practitioner would refuse, just as I refuse to be limited by one AoF. In the UK, they call it being a polymath.

My Three AoFs 🤓

The Art of Living Solo - I’ve been interested in writing about this topic for years. I’ve been living solo for two consecutive years now following the ending of a seven-year LTR. Of special interest in this AoF is ‘how to be the chief curator of your life.’ This is the topic of a new course within my new community, TAoLS.

ZENish Practices for Creators -I once attempted to close down this Substack site, but didn’t. I’m glad I didn’t close it out because I see that for those folks with whom ZENish resonated, it’s still a valuable resource. I recently teased you with a post about an upcoming 21-Day Zen Challenge. I’m still working on it and it is nearing completion. I'll be writing more about that soon.

Brief Books - Writing and publishing books with fewer than 100 pages remains a chief interest. I recently completed a novella and one of four how-to non-fiction brief books. I had a Substack for this interest, but it’s not been attracting much attention. I’m moving it to my generalist author's site.

Self-identifying your AoFs

I’ll be asking you in a future email to select one, two, or all of these three AoFs. It will make certain you receive only the posts and opportunities that fall under the AoFs that you wish to receive.

I hope that helps to clear up the confusion around this email list.

If you’re considering unsubscribing, I’d ask you to hold off until the next email asking you to choose the AoF you want to hear about. If you’ll allow me to make things right, we’ll all be happier.

As always, I appreciate your readership.

Baz ‘the generalist with AoFs’ Morris 😎
